Messaging roommates
How does messaging work?
Messages is a top-level tab with two portals: 👥 Roommate Messages (tap "Message" on any roommate profile or Looking For post) and 🏠 Listing Messages (tap "Message Lister" on any rent or buy listing). Conversations are private, sync across your devices, and you can search, pin, and archive them — plus swipe a conversation on mobile for quick actions. You don't need a match to message a roommate, and there's no limit on conversations.
What can I share in a conversation?
Tap the + in a conversation to open the action tray. In Roommate Messages you can add Shared Notes, a File, or a Location; in Listing Messages you can add a File or a Location. You can also react to any message with 👍 ❤️ 😂 🤔 👀, and open the 🖼 Shared Media view to see all photos, files, and locations from that chat in one place.
How do Shared Notes work?
Inside a roommate conversation, tap + → Notes to create shared notes you both can view and edit — apartment ideas, questions, tour notes, things to buy, and more. Give a note a category and a color, star the important ones (they pin to the top), and add a lightweight checklist. Notes sync live across your devices and show who last edited them. Creating a note posts a small note in the chat; edits stay private to the notes panel.
