Dormly is built for verified students, but a few habits keep you safe whether you're finding a roommate, touring a place, or buying furniture.
Prefer verified people and listings
Look for verification badges on students and listings. A verified .edu student is a real person at your school; verified listings have had their details checked. It's not an ironclad guarantee, but it's a strong signal.
Spot and avoid scams
Be wary of anyone who rushes you, won't meet or video-tour, asks for a deposit by gift card or wire before you've seen the place, or offers a deal that seems too good. Real listers are happy to show the place first.
Meet safely
Meet in public for first meetings and marketplace pickups, bring a friend when you can, and tell someone where you're going. Keep the conversation in Dormly Messages so there's a record.
Protect your information
Don't share your home address, financial details, or ID until you've verified who you're dealing with and have a real reason to. Your affordability info and private notes on Dormly are always visible only to you.
Report and block
If someone makes you uncomfortable, block them to cut off contact and report them — reports are confidential and reviewed within 24 hours. You never owe anyone a conversation.
