How do I message a lister about a place?
Open any rent or buy listing and tap "Message Lister" to start a private, two-way conversation with the lister — no roommate profile required. It lands in Messages → Listing Messages, and the lister replies right in the same thread. You can also still tap "Send Inquiry" for a quick one-off inquiry with your contact info; both work.
What's the difference between Roommate Messages and Listing Messages?
Roommate Messages are for chatting with potential roommates and are open to verified students (.edu). Listing Messages are for talking to listers about a place and are open to any eligible Dormly account — including listers — so you never need a roommate profile to contact a lister. If you're not a verified student yet, you can still open the Messages hub and use Listing Messages; Roommate Messages shows a quick prompt to verify your student email.
