Selling safely

How do I sell an item in the Marketplace?

Open Marketplace and tap "Sell an Item." A simple stepper walks you through it: add photos, then item info, price & condition, pickup/delivery, review, and publish. You can add up to 8 photos, and Dormly automatically strips hidden location data (EXIF) from them for your privacy. Nothing ever auto-publishes — you can save a draft and come back, and your listing only goes live when you tap Publish.

How do I stay safe in a Marketplace transaction?

Meet in a public campus spot, inspect the item before paying, and avoid deposits or paying sight-unseen. Never share passwords or verification codes. Importantly, Dormly does not process payments or guarantee any transaction — there's no escrow and Dormly never holds funds, so the exchange happens directly between you and the other student. Trust your instincts and report anything that feels off.

Is my pickup location and contact info private?

Yes. A public listing only shows a general pickup area — never your exact address, email, or phone number. When you're ready to meet, share the precise meetup spot privately through the chat. We recommend choosing a public campus location for the exchange.
